Anna’s Star

Composers have used the French folk tune Ah! vous dirai-je, Maman as the basis for their own compositions for centuries. In fact, Mozart used the melody in his Twelve Variations on “Ah vous diraj-je, Maman”, K. 265. Knowing this would be a composition playable by younger musicians, I wanted the same element of familiarity. My three-year-old daughter recognized the theme upon first listen. Because of this, I chose to title the work Anna’s Star.
